Miami, Florida – Leonardo Argumedo Reloba and Roxana Viltres García left Batabanó, Mayabeque, in July 2022. They carried one suitcase, an eight-month-old baby, and a debt. Behind them was a Cuba deep in crisis after July 11th. "We were entrepreneurs back home and didn't plan to leave, but the situation pushed us out," Leonardo recalls.
The journey: Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico. With their baby in their arms and no certainty of what awaited them at the U.S. border. "We arrived with nothing, owing money," he says. Like thousands of migrants, they started from the bottom — taking any job, saving every dollar, adapting to a new language and culture.
"We were able to start little by little and thank God today we have our own company"
Three years later, the story is completely different. Leonardo and Roxana founded La Casa Nueva, a home design and manufacturing company located at 6801 NW 77th Ave, Suite 102, Miami. This is not a typical carpentry shop. They specialize in fully custom kitchens with over 200 colors, Italian-inspired finishes, built-in TV units for living rooms, decorative wall panels, and complete bathroom solutions.
🏆 What customers love: PVC instead of wood
One key differentiator of La Casa Nueva is the use of PVC material for bathroom vanities. Unlike traditional wood, PVC resists humidity, does not swell from water exposure, and is immune to termites. "Customers really like it because it doesn't get damaged by water," explains Leonardo — an ideal solution for Florida's humid climate.
📐 Custom design with personal attention
Their business model combines a physical showroom with hands-on consulting. The team visits homes to take precise measurements, designs each project on a computer, and manufactures unique pieces. From integrated lighting in kitchens to illuminated bathroom mirrors, everything is tailored to the client.
Those looking to renovate their home can visit the showroom or call 786 899 8179 to schedule an appointment. This Cuban family's journey proves that perseverance turns adversity into success.
